Nutserts are threaded insert or fasteners that are steel, low profile, expanding insert available in standard and metric thread sizes. An expanding insert is a single piece, which breaks into two pieces during installation. The lower threaded section of the insert draws up inside the upper sleeve section, causing the sleeve to expand 360o thus swaging the insert into the hole. Because the insert does not form a bubble on the backside of the application, an expanding insert can be used in blind hole applications. However, an expanding insert has less resistance to push out forces than a bubbling insert, which collapses into a bubble formation on the backside of the application.
